THE "Malaysia, My Second Home" programme was introduced in early 2002 as an extension to the "Silver Hair" programme to promore tourism and foregin investment in the country.
The latter was applicable only to those above 50 years of age, but the former was extended to include young cash-rich foreigners.
This programme allows for stay in Malaysia for as long as possible on a sosical visit pass with a multiple entry visa. The social visit pass is initially for 10 years.

Governmental Support This programme is initiated organized and launched by the Malaysian Government. It is, therefore, a programme, that the Government will continuously work to ensure its success.
"The time is now, the place is Malaysia," says Deputy Tourism Minister Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai's message to foreigners to visit Malaysia and participate in the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme.

There are international schools of repute in all major towns with Englich as the medium of instruction. Terms And Conditions
Financial Requirement Successful applicants required to comply with the following financial criteria upon receipt of the "conditional approval letter" from Malaysia Immigration Department.
I) Aged Below 50 Years Old
  • Open a fixed deposit account of RM 300,000.00
  • After a period of one year, the participant can withdraw up to RM 240,000.00 for approved expenses relating to house purchase, education for children in Malaysia and medical purposes.
  • Must maintain a minimum balance of RM 600,000.00 from second year onwards and throughout stay in Malaysia under this programme.
II) Aged 50 Years And Above Can either choose to :
  • Open a fixed deposit account of RM 150,000.00; OR
  • Show proof of monthly off - shore income of RM 10,000.00 such as pension scheme.
  • After a period of one year, participant who fulfills the fixed deposit criteria can withdraw up to RM 90,000.00 for approved expenses relating to house purchase, education for children in Malaysia and medical purposes.
  • Participants must maintain a minimum balance of RM 60,000.00 from the second year onwards and throughout stay in Malaysia under this programme.
Note :
  • Successful applicants need to obtain piror approval from Ministry of Tourism before proceed to withdraw the fixed deposit in Ringgit Malaysia (RM) only.
  • Participants need to obtain prior approval from Ministry of Tourism before proceed to withdraw the fixed deposit.
  • Participants under this programme may withdraw their entire fixed deposit anytime should they decide to terminate their stay in Malaysia under this programme. However, they must obtain prior approval from the Ministry of Tourism.
Medical Report All applicants and their dependents (spouse and children) are required to submit a medical report from any private hospital / registered clinic in Malaysia. Medical Insurance in Malaysia. Restrictions Participants under Malaysia My Second Home Programme are not allowed to work / be employed while staying in Malaysia. In addition, they should not participate that can be considered as sensitivee to the local people and a threat to the security of the country.

All applicants who wish to apply to stay in Malaysia under Malaysia My Second Home Programme must submmit the following documents :
Letter Of Application (Cover Letter)
  • Personal background and indicate your intention to join Malaysia Second Home
  • With whom you wish to come (single or with family)
  • Breifly explain how you will support your stay in Malaysia (financial capabilities)
  • Which financial criteria you wish to used; either Fixed Deposit or monthly off - shore income (for 50 years old above)
Two (2) copies of Form IM.12 (Social Visit Pass Form).
Two (2) passport sized Photographs.
Personal bond (is applicants appointed sponsors).
A certified copy of Passport / travel document (all pages).
A certified copy of a Marriage Certificate (if accompanied by spouse).
A certifed copy (s) of birth certificare (is accompanied by children).
Resume with 10 years of working experience.
A certified copy of latest bank statement / other related financial document to indicate the financial capability copies to support stay in Malaysia.
At least 3 months certified copies of pay slip / pension slip/ income statement etc.
Note : Items 2 - 4 are also required if accomppanied by spouse and children as dependants.
Dependants refer to children aged below 18 years old and not married.
Participants from *selected countries who are entering Malaysia with Tourist Social Visa Pass prior to approval of Malaysia My Second Home programme are required to pay for Journet Performed Visa (JP) (RM 500). The payment should be make to Malaysia My Second Home before they get endorsement of Malaysia My Second Home Sticker in their passport.

Incentives
Participants of Malaysia My Second Home Programme are provided with various incentives to make their stay even more comfortable and enjoyable in Malaysia. The incentives provided are as follows :
Home Purchase Each participants is allowed to purchase up to two units of residental houses at a minimum prices above RM 150,000.00 each, depending on the location of the property.
Generally the minimum price for the purchase of houses in Malaysia are as follows :
  • Above RM 350,000 each for certain areas in the state of Sarawak
  • Above RM 250,000 each for the state of Penang, MAlacca and Johor
  • Above RM 150,000 for other states
Procedure for Acquisition of Properties Chart
Car Purchase Participat may import one used motorcar which belongs to him from his coutry of citizenship or where he last domiciled. He will be exempted from paying import duty, excise duty and sales tax on the imported motorcar within six (6) months from the endorsement sate of the MM2H visa.
OR Participant may purchase one new motorcar made or assembled in Malaysia. He will be exempted from paying excise duty and sales tax on the new motorcar within one (1) year from the endorsement date of the MM2H visa.

Domestic Helper Applicant are required to refer to the checklist and fill in the foreign maid application from which is to be submitted to immigration department. Applicants are also required to attach a copy of the Malaysia My Second Home Pass or verification purposes.
Any applicant who wished to bring in a foreign maid from a country other than his country of orifin or any foreign maid who do not fulfill the existing requirement of conditions will be refered to the Director General of Immigration Department for further assessment, re-evaluation and approval.
Upon approval, Levi and Visa charges will be imposed on the applicant.
The foreign maid is required to underso medical examination in Malaysia and the medical report must be submitted through FOMEMA together with the applicant.
Application Procedure for Bringing in Foreign Maid Chart
Education Applicants are allowed to bring their children who under 18 years old and not married as their dependants under this programme.
Before registration with private colleges or universities please check the following :
  • Courses must be accredited by the Malaysian Accreditation Board
  • The institution must be registered with the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
    • Please make sure the Private Higher Educational (PHEI) that you hav selected is already registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
    • For student from China, please ensure the PHEI has been registered by the China Embassy in Malaysia
To enroll into particular institution, please ensure the following criteria are fulfilled :
  • Academic qualifications as required.
    • If qualifications comply, the institution will issue a letter of offer to study in insitution.
The institution will help foreign student to obtain the following :
  • Student Pass from the immigration department.
  • Please abide by the conditions of the Student Pass issued.
Please observe the following regulations as a foregin student in Malaysia :
  • Abide by rules and regulations of the Malaysian Government at all times.
  • Do not violate the conditions of the Student Pass.
